What Is Shockwave Therapy?

Shockwave therapy—also known as acoustic wave therapy—is a non-invasive treatment that uses high-energy sound waves to improve the appearance of cellulite and skin texture.

It works by targeting the structural causes of cellulite, helping to smooth dimpling and improve skin quality over time.

How It Works

Cellulite forms when fibrous bands beneath the skin pull downward while fat pushes upward.

Shockwave therapy helps by:

  • Loosening fibrous septae (bands) that cause dimpling
  • Stimulating collagen production
  • Improving blood circulation and lymphatic drainage
  • Enhancing overall skin elasticity

The result is smoother, firmer, more even-looking skin.

Treatment Experience

  • Comfortable, non-invasive treatment
  • Sensation: rhythmic tapping or pulsing
  • No needles, no downtime

Sessions typically last 20–40 minutes, depending on the area.

Results & Timeline

  • After a few sessions: smoother skin texture
  • With a full series (6–10 treatments): visible reduction in cellulite
  • Ongoing improvement: as collagen production increases

Results are gradual and natural-looking, not immediate.

What Can It Treat?

Cellulite on thighs, buttocks, and abdomen

Mild to moderate skin laxity

Uneven skin texture

Areas with poor circulation or fluid retention

Shockwave vs RF vs Other Treatments
